My first children’s book “Dragons of Doggerland” (published
August 2022) is set around 7500 years ago. It is the first in a
trilogy, with “Escape from Doggerland” and “Dragons of Bulla’s
Brook” both in production. I am the only one who knows how it all
ends!
All titles are
aimed at roughly the 6+ age group, with 9 year olds forming the
majority of my “beta-readers”.
The idea for the
book started around 2011 and, although the story was quite well
developed, I let it drop until I had more time. In common with many
people, the “time” manifested itself during the Coronavirus
pandemic lock-down.
Having had nine dogs over the years, I just had to make sure that Berry, the only human in the story, had a dog companion. "Growler" is very much based on a much-loved doggy personality, Benji. I am sure he would have been super proud to have been immortalised in a book! He would certainly have enjoyed the adventures.
